An "avuncular" test determines whether a person is biologically related to a sibling of the parent in question. This test is a good option when the father is not available for testing, and the only available relative is a sibling (brother or sister) of the father.
Siblings share about 50% of their DNA, so an aunt or uncle shares about 25% of their DNA with a niece/nephew.
DDC has the widest range of genetic markers available to resolve the biological relationship such as the uncle-aunt test, which is often another way to determine paternity and through the Immaculate Conception Clinical Laboratory, this test is available.
Test Options for Uncle/Aunt DNA Testing
Legal: The results of legal tests can be presented in court as legal proof of a biological relationship. A judge's order is required to order the test with us.
personal knowledge: If you need the test results only for your peace of mind and not for legal reasons, a court order is not required . Please note that the results are not admissible in court.
TIP: If you think you may need results for court in the future, we suggest you take a legal test first so you only have to test once.
