What is prenatal paternity testing?

A prenatal paternity test is a method used to establish paternity during pregnancy. Postnatal methods such as buccal swabs and umbilical cord tests require that a baby be born in order to  establish paternity. Prenatal methods, such as Aminiocentesis, Chorinoic Villus Sampling (CVS), and the noninvasive SNP microarray method, can be performed as early as 9 weeks after conception.

What is paternity testing

non-invasive prenatal

A non-invasive paternity test uses fetal DNA separated from the mother's blood, therefore it does not require a needle to be inserted into the mother's uterus.

I know  free  women who want to verify who is the father of their unborn child from undergoing invasive procedures to extract samples of fetal cells that carry a small risk of triggering a miscarriage.

When is the earliest I can get a non-invasive prenatal paternity test?

The non-invasive prenatal paternity test can be performed at 7  gestation weeks.

How safe is the prenatal paternity test?  Non-invasive? Is there any risk for me and my baby?

For a non-invasive prenatal paternity test there is no risk to the fetus other than the ordinary risk of the mother taking her blood sample to detect the baby's free-floating DNA.
